In Empire: Four Kingdoms, you have Commanders and Castellans.
Commanders are used to attack. Castellans are used to defend.
Commanders are used to attack. You don’t have to station your commanders anywhere. They all work from a “central pool”. Basically, you attack a RBC or a Player, and pick the Commander you want to use. It doesn’t matter if you are in green, ice, fire or sands. You pick one of your available commanders, and attack. The only time a commander is not available to attack, is if they are ALREADY attacking someone.
You can name your Commanders, however only you see the names. The person you attack doesn’t see these names, nor does that name show on the Battle Reports. Some people like to name their commanders after what they are good at (Stealth, Archers, Melee, Ranged, Looter, etc). Others like to name them for fun (William Wallace, The Wrath, DoomCrusher, etc.). It doesn’t really matter… only you see it, so use what you like.
Commanders are also used to “escort troops” when you station them to a new location, or use them to support your alliance.
You can setup the equipment on your Commanders to change their strengths and weaknesses. Typically you want the highest Melee and Ranged that you can get.
Castellans are used for defense. They live in each of your Outposts and Castles, and are permanently stationed there. They are used to defend against an attack, and to capture a new outpost. If they capture a new outpost, that becomes their new home.
You cannot name your Castellans. They have automatic names like: Main castle castellan, Outpost castellan and Ice castellan.
